Why are some people able to grow hair waist level and others can barely grow it to shoulder length?

I know they say the a person's hair grows an average of 1/2 inch a month or up to 6 inches a year? So why are some people able to grow really long hair and others can barely reach the shoulders? Why are some people able to grow hair waist level and others can barely grow it to shoulder length?
You have asked a great question. And I truly wish there was ONE simple answer to your question. Unfortunately there isn't one simple answer.

I have found that the main reason hair may not reach the longer lengths, are because of improper hair care routines which weaken the hair and cause it to break at a set point in the hair growth cycle. There are many ways this cycle can be broken but pinpointing the exact cause can be difficult at times.

However the root cause is typically nutritional deficiencies in the body, and poor hair maintenance routines,Why are some people able to grow hair waist level and others can barely grow it to shoulder length?
Yeah, it takes time to grow your hair to around your waist, lol. They'd only get trims every now and again.

I guess it depends on the person anyway.
